What does it mean to be "energy conscious" and what does energy consciousness have to do with cleaning?
Being energy conscious is about having an awareness of the energy around us and paying close attention to what kind of energy we are putting out into our environments. This effects everything we do and experience, even cleaning.
Everything in existence is some form of energy. Modern science acknowledges that the human body is made up of an energy field, and that the world is a dynamic web of inseparable energy patterns.
Einstein's famous equation, E = mc2, teaches us that matter and energy are interchangeable, merely different forms of the same thing. Einstein proved that everything is energy and therefore there is no dualistic world, everything in the universe is connected. All forms of energy interact and influence all others. If we are conscious of the energy, in and around us, we have the opportunity, the ability and the responsibility, to influence it and direct it in a positive way that can bring about physical, mental, emotional and spiritual healing.
Thoughts, words and intentions have the power to effect all other forms of energy.
For instance- Masaru Emoto is a scientist who studies the effects that words, music, photographs and prayer have on water.
Below are two pictures that demonstrate the effects of words .
These are the result of typing words onto paper, then taping the paper onto glass bottles of untreated distilled water and leaving them to sit overnight.
"Thank you" "You make me sick, I want to kill you!"
Here is yet another way to illustrate this point.
Below, are two electrocardiogram readings. These record the energy emitted by the human heart.
The one on the left shows the heart energy of a person thinking positive thoughts and having sincere feelings of love.
The one on the right is typical of a person who is feeling angry and frustrated.
Energy cannot be created or destroyed, however, it can be transformed-
as illustrated by these two pictures.
Polluted water from Fujiwara Dam, Japan The same water after prayer
Now, I want you to keep in mind that most living tissue is composed of, some amount of water, up to and even exceeding, 90% . The human body is 60% water. So, after seeing the effects of words, on just the energy of water, imagine the impact our words, attitudes and behaviors are having on the people close to us and on our entire planetary system.
Since everything is some form of energy, which do you use in your work?
The particular form of energy that I access in my work is The Universal Life Force Energy or Vital Energy, as some would know it. In China they call it Qi and in Japan Ki. In the West we translate these to Chi. It's known as Hucha and Sami in Peru. In India it's known as Prana; Orenda, is the word used by Native American, Iroquois. In Hebrew it is called Ruasch and in Hawaiian and Polynesian culture it is called Mana. Every culture has it's own word to describe this energy because this energy exists within all things. Since my up-bringing is Christian, I see it as "Light" (always with a capital "L") as in The LIGHT of God.
I became familiar with energy work through an education in Reiki. I originally looked to Reiki as a tool for self-healing and it has proven far better than therapy at helping me become and remain healthy, centered, balanced, happy and productive. It is in the giving of this gift that my personal healing happens so I try to do it in every moment. It is now an integral part of who I am.
There are several different systems of energy work. In the West it is known as Therapeutic Touch or Healing Touch. There is also Qigong, Quantum Touch, laying-on of hands and Vibrational Medicine. Feng Shui, also, is a form of energy work which is concentrated specifically on environments. I'm sure you've also heard of house blessings or house cleansing. Those are also forms of energy work which resemble what I do. Reiki is an ancient Japanese system.
Are you certified and how long have you been doing this?
Yes, I am a certified Reiki practitioner/teacher. I began learning and practicing in 2000 and have been certified since 2004. I have taught several others and done extensive work on people and pets but I feel most pulled to do this work on places. I have discovered that Reiki can be effectively applied to places and things in the same healing way that it can be applied to a physical body. Using Reiki this way brings an invigorating lightness to the air and promotes peace, harmony, mental clarity and healing. No one should be without these things yet my methods are especially useful If your home or office is a chaotic stressful place or if you have any kind of trauma associated with your spaces. I clear and transform negative energies that have been imprinted on material belongings. I get stale and stagnant energies moving again and I charge the atmosphere with positive, loving energy.
Hence; you have a place that feels as good as it looks!
Why bother being public about the energy work you do? Won't that limit the type of clientele you attract?
In the beginning of my cleaning work I was just doing Reiki because I wanted to take every possible opportunity to practice, knowing that all the energy I channeled, into the homes of my cleaning clients, was also energy that was working to heal me. I never intended this to become something I advertise openly. It wasn't until I had several of my clients say to me. "It FEELS so good after you've been here, Angie." They didn't say "looks" or "smells". They said "feels"! Some expressed curiosity. They wondered what I was doing different from their previous housekeepers. After explaining why my results felt different they encouraged me to go public with my methods. I still hesitated to do so. I didn't really see why people needed to know about it and I did worry that it might limit my possible clientele. I've recently changed my mind about this, for three reasons. First-it is part of my spiritual calling to make people aware of how they use their personal energy and to teach others about the power of positive thought, word and action. Second- I have strong faith that if I live authentically and follow my spiritual calling, with courage, I will have plenty of good quality clients. Third and most important!- I wish to be held publicly accountable for my own attitudes and behaviors. I encourage all my clients and anyone who reads this to call me on it if you notice me putting out anything but good vibes.
How do you do the energy work on houses? What kind of things do you do.... like, is it some kind of magic or voodoo or something weird like that?
No! Definitely not! To any silent observer, you'd never know that I was doing anything, other than the physical act of cleaning. All of what I do is going on in my mind and spirit. I am simply focusing my full attention on raising the energy's vibrational rate in the space around me. This makes cleaning a spiritual meditation to me. I have a tendency to fall so deep into the meditative state that I am quite easily startled by clients walking in on me unexpectedly.
How long have you been doing Reiki with your cleaning work?
I have been cleaning professionally and implementing Reiki with my work, since 2000.
Do you charge extra for the energy work portion of your services?
No. My prices would remain the same even if I were not doing the Reiki. I charge half the hourly rate, for my cleaning services, than a typical Reiki practitioner does for their Reiki services. The Reiki is a gift I give freely to all. There is no additional charge. This is not to imply that I feel there is something wrong with charging for Reiki. I just don't do it because it isn't part of my spiritual calling to gain an income from energy work.
Do you still do Reiki on people?
Yes, I enjoy doing treatments on people, so if you'd like a private treatment please let me know. Although I don't set a fee for Reiki treatments I do accept donations because I believe, as do most practitioners, that an equal exchange of energy is important for the healing process. The donation doesn't need to be money. It can also be barter in the form of useable goods and services.
